As the CEO, I had the opportunity to speak with a young mother waiting in a lobby of a business who happened to also be a survivor of Domestic Violence. It was apparent to me that she could use some advice. She eventually told me her story and I told her mine. Even though, she did not need a shelter, I still explained how to put together a safety plan to keep herself and her children safe. I also referred her to an individual to help her find a job.

The last thing I said to her was "Know that I see you and God sees you". She cried and hugged me. She told me she had felt invisible and thanked me for seeing her. In that moment, I knew the light I had once fought so hard to find for myself was now shining through me and onto someone else’s path.
